Translink is introducing a revised train timetable from this weekend after the closure of Great Victoria Street station as part of preparations for the new Grand Central Station.

The new timetables will come into effect on Saturday, 11th May, which will operate until the autumn.

The last passenger train will leave Great Victoria Street train station this Friday, May 10, to connect the new rail line to Grand Central Station at Weaver's Cross. The Europa Buscentre will remain operational until the new station opens.

Translink have said Belfast Grand Central Station is on track to open to the public this autumn, with the internal fit out well underway alongside work to the bus stands, rail platforms, track and signalling infrastructure.

From this weekend, the rail line will remain open throughout Belfast but will no longer serve Great Victoria Street Station.

For any passengers currently using Great Victoria Street train station, Translink have advised using other nearby stations including York Street, Lanyon Place, Botanic, or City Hospital. Bus substitution services will also be operational.

A number of road closures will be in place around the Great Victoria Street area over the coming months as work on the new station progresses.

Passengers are being urged to plan ahead, check the Translink website or journey planner before they travel and allow extra time for their journey, as most passengers will see a change to their normal timetables.

Passengers can continue to use other city centre stations including the new York Street, Lanyon Place, Botanic and City Hospital. They can also use valid rail tickets on scheduled Metro and Glider services to interchange between these stations.

Later in the summer, the rail line will close between Lanyon Place and Lisburn and the stations going out of service will include Botanic, City Hospital, Adelaide, Balmoral, Finaghy, Dunmurry, Derriaghy, Lambeg and Hilden.

During this time, bus substitution services will operate and passengers will also be able to use scheduled Metro and Ulsterbus services operating between Belfast train stations and along the Lisburn Road.

There will also be enhanced Metro, Goldliner and Park and Ride timetables to facilitate passengers.

All other rail lines will remain open from Belfast Lanyon Place/York Street Station to Derry~Londonderry, Larne and Bangor and the southern corridor will operate from Lisburn southwards.
